Aisha Umar, a 14-year-old Internally Displaced Person (IDP) has committed suicide after being raped by a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) offical.

The deceased who earned a living from menial jobs, was lured by Huzaif Adam, 35, to his house at 303 Housing Estate in Maiduguri, pretending he wanted her to clean it for him.

Neighbours were soon alerted to the deceased’s cries.

When eventually neighbours broke into Huzaif Adam’s apartment to rescue Aisha, she ran into his kitchen, grabbed a knife and stabbed herself.

She died moments later at a hospital.

Shortly before taking her own life, Aisha was quoted saying “‘Why would you do this to me?’ Instead of bringing shame to my parents after deflowering me, I rather die than go home.”
